The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) seized ₹2.4 lakh in unaccounted cash from the possession of Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) Joint Director A. Srinivas during a vehicle check on Raj Bhavan Road on Friday (October 24, 2026) night.

According to the ACB, it received an anonymous call alleging that a senior HMWSSB official had collected cash illegally and was carrying it while returning home from office. Based on the information, the ACB City Range-II team kept surveillance on the official.

At around 7 p.m. on October 24, officials intercepted a Maruti Swift car opposite Metro Residency Apartments on Raj Bhavan Road. The vehicle was found to belong to Mr. Srinivas, who was travelling in it. During the search, ACB officials found ₹2.4 lakh in unaccounted cash in his possession.

The ACB said Mr. Srinivas failed to provide a satisfactory explanation for possessing the cash while returning from office and gave inconsistent versions when questioned.

The cash was seized under a panchanama for verification of the alleged corruption angle. The ACB said further necessary action would be taken and the Income Tax Department would be informed.

The investigation is under way.
