This Privacy Policy describes how Newsly AI ("the app", "we") handles your information. Newsly AI is an AI-powered news aggregation app for India, operated by an independent developer. We designed the app to work without requiring an account, and we collect the minimum data needed to provide its features.

Information we collect

• Approximate location (optional). If you grant location permission or select a city, we use it to show hyperlocal news relevant to your area. You can use the app fully without granting location access. Location is used for content personalization only.
• AI chat messages. Questions you type in the "Ask AI" feature are sent to our servers to generate a response and are stored to maintain your conversation history.
• Reading preferences. Your interests, chosen language, theme, and reading-mode preferences are stored on your device. Bookmarks and reading activity may be processed by our servers to personalize your feed.

Information we do not collect

• We do not require account creation, and do not collect your name, email address, phone number, or contacts for normal app use.
• We do not show advertising and do not use advertising trackers.
• We do not sell your data to anyone.

How AI processing works

News summaries, categorization, trust scoring, and the "Ask AI" assistant are powered by Anthropic's Claude API. When you use Ask AI, your question (and relevant news context) is sent to Anthropic for processing, subject to Anthropic's privacy policy. Anthropic does not use API data to train its models by default.

News content and sources

Newsly AI aggregates headlines and excerpts from publicly available news publishers. Every article displays its original source with a link to the publisher, and full credit remains with the original publisher. AI-generated summaries are provided for convenience and clearly attributed.

Data retention and deletion

Chat history and personalization data are retained to operate the service. To request deletion of any data associated with your usage, email us at newslysupport@gmail.com and we will respond within 30 days.

Security

All communication between the app and our servers uses HTTPS encryption. Our servers are access controlled and data is backed up securely.

Children

Newsly AI is intended for users aged 18 and over. News content reflects real-world events and is not curated for children. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the app evolves (for example, when user accounts or subscriptions launch). Material changes will be reflected on this page with an updated effective date.
