The Anantapur District Police have taken a new initiative by integrating technology into election bandobust arrangements.

According to Superintendent of Police P. Jagadeesh, a special mobile application, ‘Ananta Kavach’, has been developed to further strengthen the election security system. Launching the new application, Mr. Jagadeesh said that around 1,500 police personnel and all polling stations have been integrated into a single digital system to ensure effective police coordination.

All polling stations in the district have been mapped, along with the locations of CCTV cameras installed there. Live locations of mobile parties deployed at various locations are continuously received at the Command Control Centre.

A facility has been provided to register any issue directly through the app, either by police personnel working in the field or from the Command Control Centre.

Mr. Jagadeesh said that in case of any law and order problem or emergency situation anywhere, information can be reported through the app. Immediately, alerts will be sent to the three mobile parties nearest to the incident location. This enables the nearby police teams to respond immediately and bring the situation under control.

The SP said special attention is also given to the needs of police personnel who work continuously during election duties. A facility has also been provided for personnel to submit their food requirements through the same app. These innovative arrangements ensure importance is given not only to duty performance but also to the welfare of police personnel.

“By bringing every polling station, every police personnel and every mobile party under a single system during elections, coordination is set to become more effective. The app will greatly help in preventing untoward incidents by ensuring that information reaches the Command Control Centre promptly and nearby police forces respond immediately,” the SP said.

With the objective of conducting peaceful and transparent elections in the district, Mr. Jagadeesh said technology is being used effectively to further strengthen and modernise the functioning of the district Police Department.
