The Association of Tamil Nadu Medical Device Industry (ATMED) and Anna University have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen industry-academia collaboration and promote innovation in Tamil Nadu’s medical device sector.

According to a press release, the MoU was exchanged between V. Kumaresan, registrar, Anna University, and Samuel William George, president, ATMED, at Anna University on November 3. The partnership aims to bridge the gap between academic knowledge and industrial requirements through student internships, industry exposure, employment opportunities, technical training, research, product development, and technology commercialisation.

The collaboration will also promote joint workshops, seminars, faculty-industry interactions, student innovations, and opportunities to access Anna University’s technical infrastructure. Through its network of member companies, ATMED will facilitate industrial exposure, mentorship and employment opportunities while supporting the development of skilled professionals and indigenous medical technologies, the release said.

Office bearers of ATMED and professors from the Biomedical Engineering Department, Anna University, were present on the occasion.
