Deputy Commissioner Shilpa Sharma has directed the authorities to impose a fine of ₹2.5 lakh each and register criminal cases against two alleged fake doctors who continued practising medicine in Kamalnagar despite having been fined earlier and warned against doing so.
The action was ordered at a meeting of the district-level registration and grievance redressal authority under the Karnataka Private Medical Establishments (KPME) Act, held at the District Health and Family Welfare Department office in Bidar.
The two individuals, Gautam Samadar and Sujalkumar Sen, originally from Kolkata, had earlier been fined ₹25,000 each and warned against continuing medical practice in Kamalnagar. As they were found to have resumed practice, the Deputy Commissioner ordered the enhanced fines and criminal proceedings against them.
At the meeting, action was also taken against several others allegedly practising medicine in violation of prescribed rules.
Harish Vishwakarma, who holds an Ayurveda degree but was found practising allopathy at Pragati Clinic in Kamathana village, was fined ₹50,000 and warned against continuing allopathic practice, as it was found to be a violation of the KPME Act.
Three other individuals — Rajshekhar of Balaji Clinic in Jambagi village of Aurad taluk, Subhashdas of Anandur village in Bidar taluk and Vishwajit of Biri-K village in Bhalki taluk — were each fined ₹50,000 for allegedly practising medicine without recognised medical qualifications. They were also warned against continuing the practice.
The meeting also reviewed the case of Premkumar of Chandori village in Kamalnagar taluk, who was working as a government nursing officer at the Mudhol (B) Primary Health Centre. He had allegedly been running a private clinic without authorisation. Following a raid, the Director of Health and Family Welfare Services in Bengaluru suspended him from government service on January 31, 2026.
Despite the suspension, Mr. Premkumar allegedly continued practising at the private clinic. A second raid was conducted on October 5, and the clinic was sealed. The Deputy Commissioner directed the District Health and Family Welfare Officer to recommend to the Director that Premkumar’s subsistence allowance be withheld.
Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer Gitte Madhav Vitthal Rao, Bidar Assistant Commissioner Abhinav Jain, District Health and Family Welfare Officer Anilkumar Chintamani, the district KPME nodal officer and programme implementation officers of the Health Department attended the meeting.
