The BJP has announced a nationwide protest on Monday (October 26, 2026) against Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge's "indecent and offensive" remarks targeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Mr. Kharge’s remarks at a Patna event on Sunday (October 25, 2026), in which he dragged Mr. Modi’s late father, triggered a sharp reaction from senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders, who accused the principal Opposition, under Rahul Gandhi’s leadership, of increasingly resorting to personal attacks against Mr. Modi and his family.
Criticising the “Modi ka baap bhi jayega [even Modi’s father will go]” comment, Union Home Minister Amit Shah said Mr. Kharge has “torn apart all norms of decorum”.
"In protest against the insulting, indecent, and offensive remarks made by the Congress national president in Patna regarding Prime Minister Narendra Modi's late father, the BJP will stage strong demonstrations tomorrow (Monday) across all state headquarters in the country," the BJP said in a statement.
The Bihar BJP also will hold protest march and effigy burning against Mr. Kharge’s statement. The march will beging at party headquerters in Patna.
