The lungs, liver and kidney of a 34-year-old man, who was declared brain-dead at KIMS Bollineni Hospital on Thursday, were transported to hospitals in Srikakulam, Visakhapatnam and Hyderabad by road and air from Rajamahendravaram city on Friday.

Rajamahendravaram city police facilitated the transportation of the organs by creating a green corridor for the ambulances from the hospital to Rajahmundry airport and by road along the national highway.

According to an official release, KIMS Bollineni CEO Bollineni Advik claimed; “The family of Mr. Sudhakar, a resident of Kovvur town, consented to the organ donation after he was declared brain dead on Thursday. The organ donation has been done as per the protocol of Jeevandan.” Jeevandan is an initiative of the Andhra Pradesh State government for organ donation.

Later, one of Mr. Sudhkar’s kidney was also transplanted into a recipient at KIMS Bollineni Hospital in Rajamahendravaram on Friday.
