This facility performs over 2,000 life-saving surgeries each year at Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital. The centre not only conducts surgeries but also serves as a training site for local medical professionals. Raising Malawi is currently raising funds to expand services and hire more specialist staff.

Giri Several low-lying areas in Vijayawada have been inundated as incessant rain lashed the city from midnight on Wednesday due to Cyclone Arnab's impact. Waterlogging was reported at the Road Under Bridge near the Pandit Nehru Bus Station, Rythu Bazaar near Patamata, and a few low-lying areas of the city. Between 8.30 a.m. and 8 p.m. on Wednesday, various parts of the city reported around 50 mm of rainfall. The district, as a whole, received 1,104 mm from Tuesday till 5 p.m. on Wednesday, while the city received around 100 mm of rainfall on these two days. In the aftermath of the rains, NTR District Collector G. Lakshmisha on Wednesday directed the district administration to take measures on a war footing to prevent the spread of infectious and seasonal diseases caused by stagnant water and poor sanitation.
