Keralam Forests Minister Shibu Baby John
A comprehensive BUDS rehabilitation centre aimed at the rehabilitation of differently abled children and the financial self-reliance of their families will be established in Chavara, Forests Minister Shibu Baby John said here on Friday. Speaking at an event, the Minister added that nearly two acres of land will be identified for setting up the facility. “The care and welfare of differently abled children is not the sole responsibility of their parents, but a collective obligation of society,” he said.
The Minister was inaugurating the physical and mental health development centre constructed at the Holy Cross Pratheeksha Special School in Neendakara. The facility was constructed under the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative of IREL (India) Limited, Chavara. He added that alongside offering essential training and rehabilitation services for children, the proposed centre will also implement income-generating initiatives to support their parents and families.
The newly inaugurated health development centre built by IREL aims to ensure the physical and mental well-being of the students at Holy Cross Special School while providing healthcare facilities. The inauguration ceremony was presided over by Neendakara grama panchayat president B. Shivalal, with block panchayat president Shamla Noushad attending as the chief guest. IREL general manager N.S. Ajith, deputy general manager K.S. Bhaktadarsan and district panchayat member I. Jayalakshmi were present at the event, which was followed by cultural performances by the children.
