Telangana’s efforts to combat drug trafficking and substance abuse have received national recognition, with the State’s Narcotics Bureau and EAGLE Force securing more than 80% marks on seven parameters prescribed by the Union Government to assess the performance of Anti-Narcotics Task Forces (ANTFs). Eagle Force director Sandeep Shandilya received the national-level award on behalf of the Telangana Police from Union Home Minister Amit Shah at the third National Conference of Anti-Narcotics Task Force Heads in New Delhi on Tuesday (September 22). The performance of State ANTFs was assessed on seven key parameters, including intelligence operations; control of precursors and synthetic drugs; prosecution; demand and harm reduction; coordination and capacity building; research and analysis; and administration and logistics. Telangana scored more than 80% in the overall assessment. As part of efforts to strengthen prosecution in narcotics cases, the State has established dedicated support mechanisms covering legal scrutiny, judicial analysis, witness protection and prosecution support, said a note. Telangana Director General of Police (DGP) C.V. Anand has been regularly reviewing the functioning of the Eagle Force and directing district Superintendents of Police and other unit officers to accord priority to combating drug trafficking and substance abuse. The DGP congratulated Mr. Shandilya and the officers and personnel of the EAGLE Force for securing national recognition.

Head of South Asia and Japan at the International Baccalaureate Ashish Trivedi delivered the welcome address. Head of the Academy Jonathan Long welcomed participants and guests. Director General of the International Baccalaureate Olli-Pekka Heinonen addressed the gathering on the growing relevance of IB education in India and its role in helping young people navigate an increasingly interconnected world. Across two rounds of breakout sessions, participants considered themes including student agency, assessment, inclusion, leadership and the development of interconnected school communities.
