The ruling Congress will launch Bharat Jodo 2.0 on September 30 in 84 Assembly constituencies in Karnataka where the party lost in the 2023 elections. The programme is being organised to mark the anniversary of the Bharat Jodo Yatra led by Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi. The yatra, which began in Kanyakumari on September 7, 2022, entered Gundlupet in Karnataka on September 30 that year.
“The programme will be launched in Shikaripura on September 30, in which Ministers Madhu Bangarappa, Rudrappa Lamani and B.Z. Zameer Ahmed Khan will take part. The yatra will be held in other constituencies from October 4,” Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee president B.K. Hariprasad told presspersons here on Monday. When asked about the reason for choosing Shikaripura, he said: “We have chosen the constituency of the BJP State president (B.Y. Vijayendra) to expose the shortcomings of the BJP and create awareness about Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar bringing disrepute to the Election Commission.” The yatra will commence in the afternoon and culminate in a public meeting, he added.
