In view of the heavy rains caused by Cyclone Murasu, necessary measures are being taken to restore power supply on a war footing in the event of interruptions, said APSPDCL Chairman and Managing Director Siva Sankar Lotheti in a statement on Monday (November 2, 2026).
He said that nodal officers had been appointed to supervise power restoration works in Nellore and Tirupati districts, which are likely to be more severely affected by the cyclone. He instructed the Superintending Engineers of Nellore and Tirupati circles to remain alert and vigilant.
The CMD said that 226 special teams comprising 2,403 officers and staff had been mobilised from Anantapur, Sri Sathya Sai, Kurnool, Nandyal, Kadapa, Chittoor, and Annamayya districts to restore power supply on a war footing in the event of interruptions caused by heavy rains.
In addition, 10 teams from Tamil Nadu had also arrived in Nellore and Tirupati districts, he said, instructing the officials to keep the equipment required for power restoration, safety equipment for staff and vehicles readily available.
The public were requested to immediately report any power supply interruptions, snapped electrical lines, tilted or fallen electric poles, damaged transformers or other electricity-related issues by calling 94408 17468 (Nellore) and 94408 17412 (Tirupati).
Speaking to media at Kavali divisional office in Nellore, APSPDCL Director (Projects) P. Ayub Khan said, “All proactive measures are being taken to ensure an uninterrupted power supply and to facilitate the restoration of electricity on a war footing in the aftermath of the cyclone.”
