The Mysuru City police has constituted teams across different police stations in the City to monitor social media round the clock with a view to check the spread of false information during Dasara.
Addressing a press conference in Mysuru on Friday, City Police Commissioner Seema Latkar said a total of 20 social media monitoring teams comprising 58 trained personnel had been formed across the police stations in the City as well as the Office of the Commissioner of Police to monitor social media.
“The teams will identify those spreading false information and rumours that could create panic among the public and initiate legal action against them,” she said.
The City police have also launched the Mysuru Dasara 2026 Visitor Portal, which will provide updated information about festival programmes in Kannada and English from October 11 to 21.
The portal is available at https://mysurupolicedasaraportal.com
QR code links to the portal will be displayed at event venues, police said. The portal gives visitors the latest police announcements, emergency helplines, directions and safety advice in English and Kannada.
The public can also obtain updates through the Mysuru City Police’s official Facebook, Instagram and X accounts. The police have urged people to contact the 112 emergency helpline in case of emergencies.
