Eternal founder Deepinder Goyal has announced his intention to get directly into the world of artificial intelligence (AI) with the promise of a platform that will maintain the privacy of an individual while also providing the answers. The new engine is called Dark.ai. “I wanted an AI which I could talk to without being judged, without any fear, and without leaving a trace. We have been internally using Dark for a few months now, and I find myself revealing more, asking things I would not ask anywhere else, and going deeper into my research. Because I no longer have to look over my shoulder,” Goyal said in his letter to the shareholders following the company’s second quarter results. According to Goyal, Dark uses fine-tuned frontier open-weight models, running inside its own infrastructure with end-to-end encryption. “We cannot read your conversations, even if we are forced to. Context carries across sessions through an encrypted memory management layer you control,” he remarked. This need arose as Goyal felt that the current AI models always have the information of individuals and could pre-empt a lot of things. Dark is being built for founders, researchers, scientists, enterprises and governments as this group wants to keep their thoughts private as privacy is essential for competitiveness. “On top of privacy, we have fine-tuned our models to give you the absolute best quality of answers we have seen from any LLM (benchmarks will be revealed soon). Our models are trained to not please you, and tell you what they think is the truth,” Goyal remarked.
