Inaugurating training programmes in vermicompost production and the manufacture of bags and envelopes organised in collaboration with RUDSETI, Dharwad, at the Dharwad Central Prison on Monday, he urged inmates to utilise the opportunities provided to them.

Mr. Kumar explained the facilities extended to inmates with good conduct and asked them to cooperate with prison staff in maintaining a conducive atmosphere.

He appreciated the prison’s bhajan team which presented a devotional music programme and granted special remission to inmates who had performed well in various sections of the prison.

After inspecting products manufactured at the prison factory, he instructed the staff to maintain quality standards. He also stressed on the need for discipline, punctuality and responsible discharge of duties among prison officials and staff.

Mr. Kumar later held a meeting with officials of the Dharwad Central Prison and the Karnataka State Industrial Security Force (KSISF) unit to review administrative and security arrangements.
