Four men were charred to death and one injured in Madhya Pradesh’s Dhar district after their car caught fire after a tyre burst and fell into a culvert, police said on Monday (October 26, 2026).
According to the police, the incident took place around 11.30 p.m. on Sunday (October 25) on the Mhow-Neemuch four-lane highway in the Sadalpur police station area when one of the tyres burst and caught fire, after which the car veered off the road and plunged into the culvert, eventually getting engulfed in blaze.
Dhar Superintendent of Police Sachin Sharma told The Hindu that five friends, all residents of district’s Sagore area, had been returning after visiting a temple, and that the only survivor also suffered critical burn injuries and was under treatment.
“He has suffered 35% burn injuries. A police team reached the spot and sent him for medical care,” he said.
Additional Superintendent of Police Parul Belapurkar said Tushar Mandloi, 20, got thrown out of the car when it fell into the roadside culvert and survived, while the other four got trapped inside the vehicle.
The deceased are Bheem Dhakad, 24; Chetan Dhakad, 21; Aditya Tiwari, 22; and Abhishek Solanki, 19, and post-mortem examinations were conducted on them, Mr. Belapurkar said.
