Four persons were killed while 35 others suffered injuries in a collision between a truck and a Bengaluru-Kozhikode private sleeper bus near Periyapatna in the wee hours of Friday (October 16, 2026).

Police said those injured, including two persons who suffered serious injuries, had been shifted to different hospitals for treatment.

The mishap took place between Periyapatna and Kampalapura when a truck headed towards Mysuru from Madikeri collided with a sleeper bus from Bengaluru proceeding to Kozhikode.

Four persons, including the driver and three passengers hailing from Kerala, were killed due to the impact of the collision. Except for two persons with serious injuries, the others suffered minor injuries.

Police said the accident took place when the truck swerved to the right to avoid hitting a tree that had fallen by the roadside due to overnight rains.
