Enforcement officers at MED24 Pharmacy and General Store in Mallepally.

Four medical establishments in Hyderabad were issued show-cause notices after joint inspections by the EAGLE Force and TG SAFE found discrepancies in records concerning the purchase and sale of habit-forming medicines.

The inspections, carried out following inputs from Central intelligence, covered pharmacies in Masab Tank, Mallepally and Tolichowki. Officials checked compliance with requirements governing the purchase, storage and sale of regulated medicines, including Schedule H and H1 drugs.

At Al-Hamra Medical & General Store in Masab Tank, officials found that prescribed schedule registers had not been maintained and sale bills concerning certain habit-forming medicines, including Tapentadol, Alprazolam and others, were either not maintained or produced for verification.

At MM Medical and General Store in Mallepally, operating as MED24 Pharmacy and General Store, officials found deficiencies in prescribed registers and non-production of sale bills relating to Pregalyv 75. The Schedule H1 drugs register and sale bill book were also not produced.

A surprise inspection was conducted at First Step Drug Mart in Tolichowki following information about the indiscriminate sale and distribution of habit-forming medicines. Officials found several such medicines at the establishment, while the pharmacist was not present during the inspection. The Schedule H1 drugs register was also not produced, and discrepancies were noticed in records concerning the purchase and sale of the medicines.

At Hayat Pharmacy in Tolichowki, the prescribed Schedule H1 records and prescription register for habit-forming medicines were not produced. Officials also found deficiencies in the maintenance and production of sale bills for certain medicines.

Show-cause notices were subsequently issued to all four establishments, with further regulatory action to be taken under the applicable provisions and norms of the Drugs Control Administration.
