A four-year-old boy died after being attacked by a stray dog in Dariyapur locality of Housing Board Colony in Kalaburagi on Friday evening. Thirteen other people were reportedly bitten by the same dog during their morning walk on Saturday.

The deceased has been identified as Manoj, son of Sharanappa, a native of Jambaga village. Sharanappa works as a watchman in the city and has been residing with his family.

The incident occurred when Manoj was playing outside his house. He sustained serious injuries in the attack and was rushed to the District Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.

The same stray dog, suspected to be rabid, reportedly attacked 13 people who were out on their morning walk on Saturday. All the injured are undergoing treatment at the District Hospital.

A case has been registered against the Kalaburagi City Corporation at the Station Bazar Police Station in connection with the incident.

The incidents have triggered anger among residents, who have urged the civic authorities to take immediate preventive measures to control the stray dog menace and relocate aggressive dogs from residential areas. They have also demanded compensation for the bereaved family.
