A mega free health and medical camp was organised at Government Polytechnic College in Anantapur on Wednesday. The camp extended essential healthcare services to nearly 600 students and youth with the message “Healthy Youth, Healthy Nation”.
The camp was organised by Nigama Foundation in coordination with NSS, JNTUA, Government Polytechnic College, Anantapur, Pragathi Padham Youth Association and MY Bharat of the Union Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports. The initiative was held as part of the foundation day celebrations of Nigama Foundation.
The programme was attended by G. Mamatha, NSS coordinator, JNTUA; Bisathi Bharath, MY Bharat Representative and national youth awardee; Jaya Chandra, principal, Government Polytechnic College; Vasundhara Penakalapati, Nigama Foundation, along with medical professionals, faculty members and volunteers.
In collaboration with KH Mind Care Hospital, Anantapur, Indian Red Cross Society, Anantapur, and Icon Eye Hospital, the camp provided free blood grouping, haemoglobin and diabetes screening, blood-pressure checks, general and orthopaedic consultations, and eye examinations to the students.
Speaking at the programme, G. Mamatha appreciated the Nigama Foundation for extending selfless healthcare services to students, particularly those from rural backgrounds. She highlighted the importance of such initiatives in promoting preventive healthcare, mental well-being and healthy lifestyles among young people.
She also appreciated Nigama Foundation’s continued youth-oriented initiatives, including mental health awareness, Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat, screen de-addiction and educational support for students and youth in rural and remote areas.
