Thalaimurai Peravai, Vellore, in association with Sri Narayani Hospital and Research Centre organised a medical camp for construction workers on Sunday to commemorate the birthday of G.V. Selvam, vice-president, Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT), in recognition of his commitment to social welfare, community development, and public service.

According to a press release, G. Ramakrishnan, Politburo Member, Communist Party of India (Marxist), inaugurated the camp in the presence of Mr. Selvam, Katpadi MLA M. Sudhakar, and N. Balaji, director, Sri Narayani Group.

In his address, Mr. Selvam highlighted the contribution of construction workers to the infrastructural development of the country. “The medical camp has been organised to emphasise the importance of ensuring the physical and mental well-being of construction workers, who play a vital role in nation-building,” he said.

More than 600 workers participated in the day-long camp that provided general medical check-ups, cardiac evaluations, dental check-ups, and orthopaedic assessments, along with Siddha and Ayurveda treatments, the release said.
