Officials inspecting Warangal Super Specialty Hospital in Telangana. File

Telangana Health Minister C. Damodar Raja Narasimha has directed officials of the Roads and Buildings (R&B) and Health departments to expedite pending works at the Warangal Super Specialty Hospital and ensure that the facility is fully equipped to provide comprehensive medical services ahead of its inauguration.

The Minister reviewed the progress of construction at the Warangal Super Specialty Hospital and the Telangana Institute of Medical Sciences (TIMS) hospitals at Alwal and LB Nagar, during a meeting in Hyderabad.

With the Warangal hospital’s inauguration approaching, the minister reviewed its floor plans and instructed officials to prioritise infrastructure required for the commencement of outpatient (OP) services. This includes registration counters, consultation rooms, a pharmacy and diagnostic facilities. Representatives of the construction agencies assured the minister that all infrastructure required for OP services, including the preparation of six operation theatres, would be completed by November 15.

“The hospital should be equipped to provide all necessary medical services under one roof, ensuring that patients would not have to be referred to other hospitals for treatment,” the minister added while directing the team of doctors appointed by the government to regularly visit the Warangal hospital and the TIMS facilities to monitor preparedness and the progress of works.

Officials informed the Minister that construction at the Alwal TIMS hospital was in its final stages, with the installation of medical equipment currently underway. The LB Nagar TIMS facility is expected to reach its final stage of construction by March 2027.
