Google has launched Fitbit Edge, a slim fitness tracker with a bright screen, built in GPS and up to seven days of battery life. Pre-orders are open on the Google Store and with retail partners, and sales in shops start later this month. A Stephen Curry special edition has also been launched. Google product leads Ryan Krems and Noah Presler said in a company blog post that many people want a wearable between an advanced smartwatch like Pixel Watch and a quiet band like Fitbit Air. Fitbit Edge is made for that gap, they said. Fitbit Edge Price Fitbit Edge costs $179.99 in the US. Every buyer gets three months of Google Health Premium free. Google said Premium lets the Health Coach explain changes in health patterns, adjust fitness plans, give lifestyle tips and share context for doctor visits. Google Fitbit Edge India Price Google has not announced an Indian price or an India launch date for Fitbit Edge. Early listings expect ₹15,999 while leaks point to about ₹15,000. Neither number is official. Fitbit Air reached India about five months after its US debut, so a wait is possible for Edge too. Google Fitbit Edge Release Date Google announced Fitbit Edge on October 12. Shops will stock the tracker from October 27. Amazon is also taking pre-orders, with shipping from the same day. Live Events Fitbit Edge Tracker Design And Display Fitbit Edge is only 11.5mm thin. Google said the case is 45 percent lighter than Apple Watch Series 12. Recycled aluminium forms the body, shaped to follow the curve of the wrist. Hybrid OLED display is Google’s biggest and brightest tracker screen so far, claims them. Google said the viewing area is 46 percent larger than earlier trackers, and the screen stays easy to read in direct sunlight. A redesigned side button gives tactile feedback, so a workout can be paused in a press. Glanceable tiles and clock faces show steps, weather, sleep, cycle tracking and heart rate. Google Maps, media controls and call and message alerts also work on the wrist. Fitbit Edge Battery Life Google promises up to seven days on one charge, calling it “weekend-to-weekend battery life.” When the battery runs low, five minutes on the fast magnetic charger gives a full day of power. Water resistance goes up to 50 metres. Google also calls Edge its first repairable fitness tracker. Inside is a modular build with a replaceable battery, meant to make the device last longer. Fitbit Edge Workout Tracking And GPS Edge tracks more than 50 exercise modes that start right from the wrist. Pilates shows core metrics, runs show pace targets, HIIT shows heart rate zones and track workouts show splits. Google said built in GPS is up to 40 percent more accurate than earlier generations, even without a phone nearby. An altimeter records elevation during hill sprints, outdoor runs and stair workouts. Edge also spots up to 100 workouts on its own if the user forgets to press start. Fitbit Edge Health Features Health Guardian features watch for shifts in blood pressure trends and insulin resistance trends in the background. Edge also gives high and low heart rate alerts. An ECG app checks heart rhythm anytime, and optical sensors track heart rate round the clock. A skin temperature sensor records changes overnight. Sleep stages and heart rate variability then feed a recovery score every morning. Fitbit Edge Stephen Curry Special Edition The Stephen Curry special edition was made with the four time NBA champion, who is a Google Performance Advisor. Google said the special edition is water repellent and moisture wicking. Colours are his signature rye tones and game day orange. The special edition costs $219.99, which is $40 more than the standard Fitbit Edge. Fitbit Edge Colours And Bands Fitbit Edge comes in four finishes with Active Bands. Obsidian has a matte black case, Fog has polished silver, Olive has satin pyrite and Canyon has warm gold. Buyers can also pick Active Sport, Performance Loop, Magnet or Metal Links bands. Fitbit Edge Vs Fitbit Air Fitbit Air has no screen. It costs ₹13,999 in India and went on sale on October 2. Air also claims seven days of battery, with a five minute charge giving a full day. Air sends no messages or app alerts to the wrist, while Edge shows call and message alerts. Air supports more than 40 exercise modes, against more than 50 on Edge. Fitbit Edge Vs Pixel Watch 5 Pixel Watch 5 costs ₹42,900 in India for the 41mm model and ₹45,900 for the 45mm model. It runs Wear OS 7 and gives up to 30 hours of battery on the 41mm with always on display, and 40 hours on the 45mm. Edge claims up to seven days.
