Members of Green Visakha staged a protest at the Gandhi statue at the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation on Friday, on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, opposing proposed artificial intelligence (AI) data centres and raising concerns over air pollution and environmental protection. They placed at the statue the same representation they had submitted to the Andhra Pradesh Pollution Control Board (APPCB) Chairman and other concerned officials. The environmental NGO urged the government to protect natural resources, drinking water sources and coastal ecosystems and ensure compliance with environmental regulations. It also raised concerns over the impact of data centres on land, water resources and fishing communities.
