The State Cabinet on October 29 decided to take up development and management of a comprehensive sports stadium in Hubballi, in north Karnataka, under public-private partnership model for a period of 20 years.
Briefing media persons after the Cabinet meeting, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Krishna Byre Gowda said the stadium will come up on 14.6 acres, and will feature facilities for a wide range of sporting disciplines.
The proposed infrastructure includes an athletics track, a football ground, basketball and volleyball courts, hockey facilities, indoor sports infrastructure, a swimming pool, a gymnasium, a horse-riding training centre, and accommodation for sportspersons.
The initiative aims to provide athletes with facilities for training, practice and competitive events while bringing the development and management of the stadium under a public-private partnership arrangement.
