Around 800 people, including gynaecologists and nursing college students, participated in a three-km walkathon organised in the city to raise awareness of breast cancer.
The ‘CanWalk’ initiative was organised by the Thrissur Obstetrics and Gynaecological Society (TOGS) as part of its breast cancer awareness campaign.
Thrissur Mayor Niji Justin flagged off the walkathon at Pallithamam Ground. Actor Lena inaugurated the concluding public meeting at the Regional Theatre.
As part of the awareness programme, students presented a dance drama highlighting the risks and complications of breast cancer and the importance of educating women about the disease. Cash prizes and certificates were awarded to the best dance drama performers.
