The official X account of Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) was hacked in the early hours of Monday (October 19, 2026), with multiple posts promoting a cryptocurrency-related rewards programme appearing on its timeline.

GMR Hyderabad International Airport authorities later regained access to the X account and took steps to remove the unauthorised posts.

A statement from the airport said “RGIA Hyderabad promptly addressed an instance of unauthorised access to its official X account. The account has been restored and is fully operational. The incident has been reported to the relevant cybercrime authorities and X, and a detailed investigation is underway. We would like to clarify that the X account is not integrated with airport systems. Therefore, there is no impact on airport operations, passenger services, or operational systems,”

At around 1.30 a.m., the airport’s X handle, ‘@RGIAHyd’, published posts promoting ‘StonkFun Season 1’, an eligibility checker linked to the Stonk App and the Solana cryptocurrency ecosystem. The posts tagged several social media accounts and featured an image promoting the programme. The posts described StonkFun as an activity-based rewards programme and urged users to check their eligibility, stating that the checker would remain open for only one day.
