The Department of Electrical Engineering at Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Palakkad organised a day-long workshop offering school students practical experience in electrical engineering.
Titled ‘spark it – from concepts to circuits’, the workshop brought together 44 students and nine teachers from five schools.
It aimed to connect concepts taught in physics classrooms with practical learning through simple circuits, demonstrations and hands-on activities.
Students from Government Victoria Girls Higher Secondary School, Chittur; Government Technical High School, Marutharoad; Ashramam High School, Malampuzha; Kannadi Higher Secondary School, Kannadi; and Government Boys Higher Secondary School, Chittur, took part in the programme.

Harikrishnan S., a PhD scholar in the Electrical Engineering Department, led the practical sessions. Students learned basic electrical concepts and built simple circuits under guidance.
Associate professor Arun Rahul S. organised the programme, while technical superintendent Sanil Sharahudeen coordinated it.
At the valedictory session, Dean of Student Affairs Swaroop Sahoo distributed certificates to the students and felicitated the teachers who accompanied them.
