The story so far: Jamia Millia Islamia recently set up a five-member committee to draft the constitution of its students’ union, which was dissolved in 2006. This came amid ongoing protests which began on October 12 to demand restoration of elected representation.

The committee, chaired by Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences Zubair Meenai, is meant to look at why the students’ union was dissolved, the relevant court rulings, and the recommendations of the Lyngdoh Committee, dated 2006.
