Actors Kunchacko Boban and Prithviraj Sukumaran have been appointed brand ambassadors of the Forest department to promote forest conservation, wildlife protection and public participation in environmental initiatives.

As brand ambassadors, the actors will promote awareness of forests, wildlife, biodiversity, habitat protection and ecological balance. They will also support the promotion of departmental programmes, public services, conservation campaigns and citizen-participation initiatives.

The engagement will have a particular focus on children and young people. The actors are expected to encourage students and young adults to develop an interest in nature through educational programmes, interactive sessions, nature camps and youth-oriented digital content.

The government also envisages their participation in social media campaigns through the sharing of verified conservation messages, awareness videos and information about departmental initiatives on official platforms.

The department plans to use their association with cinema to develop innovative communication formats that can make conservation messages accessible to wider audiences.

Another important area of engagement will be promoting responsible behaviour towards wildlife, respect for forest-dependent communities, safe responses to wildlife encounters, and greater public participation in conservation efforts. The actors will also support nature education and environmental literacy programmes aimed at improving public understanding of ecosystems, biodiversity and ecological relationships.
