Commercial LPG gets costlier The price of a 19-kg commercial LPG cylinder has risen by Rs 62.50 from Thursday, October 1, taking the price to Rs 2,810. This follows a Rs 9.50 increase in September, when the cylinder was priced at Rs 2,747.50. ATF prices have also gone up by around Rs 16 per litre, from Rs 121 to Rs 137 per litre. The changes come as domestic LPG consumers face a new requirement from October 1, 2026. Those seeking to book refills at the regulated Retail Selling Price (RSP) with applicable subsidy will now need to have completed Biometric Aadhaar Authentication (BAA).The authentication requirement is aimed at ensuring that subsidised LPG reaches genuine and deserving households. Each LPG connection is linked to an Aadhaar-authenticated consumer to prevent diversion of subsidised domestic cylinders for commercial and industrial use, remove duplicate and ineligible connections, and make subsidy delivery more targeted and transparent.Consumers who have already completed BAA will not need to repeat the process and can continue booking refills as before. Those who have not completed it will be able to book a refill at the RSP with subsidy once their authentication is completed. Consumers can complete the authentication process through several channels. During refill delivery, the delivery person can carry out BAA on the spot using the OMC mobile application. The process can also be completed by visiting the LPG distributor's showroom. Consumers can alternatively complete it themselves from home through their OMC's mobile application: IndianOil ONE for Indane customers, HelloBPCL for Bharatgas customers and HP PAY for HP Gas customers.Consumers who are unwilling or unable to complete BAA can still receive LPG. They will have to register their choice through their OMC's digital channels, including the consumer web portal, mobile app, WhatsApp chatbot, IVRS or other available channels. In such cases, LPG will be supplied at the applicable market price without subsidy, in 5-kg or 10-kg cylinders, subject to local availability with the OMC.Consumers who have not yet completed BAA have been urged to do so through any of the available channels, which are accessible in both urban and rural areas.
