The teachings and ideals of Jagadguru Srimad Madhvacharya, the exponent of Dvaita philosophy, continue to guide society and inspire people to uphold moral values, speakers said at his birth anniversary celebrations here on Wednesday.
The programme was organised by the district administration and the Zilla Panchayat at the Deputy Commissioner’s office.
Delivering a discourse after offering prayers to Madhvacharya, Pandit Narasimhachar Puranik highlighted his contributions to the religious, spiritual and philosophical fields.
He said that the birth anniversary is an occasion to recall the saint-philosopher’s teachings and pass them on to future generations.
He called upon people to incorporate Madhvacharya’s principles into their daily lives and promote spiritual awareness and ethical values in society.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Ramesh Kolar said that Madhvacharya’s life and contributions continue to be a source of inspiration.
Observances marking the anniversaries of great philosophers and spiritual leaders provide an opportunity to understand their teachings and spread their message among the people, he said.
Mr. Kolar also greeted members of the Vipra community on the occasion.
Prominent members of the community and officials paid floral tributes to Madhvacharya.
Raghavendra Achar Joshi, District Brahmin Association general secretary Shankar Narayan and advocate Narsingrao Kinikeri were among those present.
