Namma Metro facilitated the swift transportation of a human kidney from Jalappa Hospital in Kolar to Fortis Hospital in Nagarabhavi, Bengaluru, completing the metro journey between Benniganahalli and Attiguppe stations in just 37 minutes on Friday (October 30).
According to a press release issued by Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL), the kidney was brought aboard a metro train at Benniganahalli station at 2.58 p.m. and reached Attiguppe station at 3.35 p.m., enabling its timely transfer for a medical procedure.
“Recognising the critical importance of time in organ transportation, BMRCL coordinated with the healthcare institutions and made the necessary arrangements to facilitate the journey,” release stated.
With Friday’s transfer, Namma Metro has facilitated seven organ transportation operations so far. These include one liver, four hearts and one pair of lungs, in addition to the latest kidney transfer.
