Greater coordination in project design, modern construction methods, digital monitoring and artificial intelligence (AI)-based planning can improve the execution and quality of urban infrastructure projects, said K. Govardhan Reddy, president, Projects Division, Megha Engineering and Infrastructures Limited (MEIL).

Speaking at the Telangana Urban Innovation Summit 2026 in Hyderabad on Saturday (October 31, 2026), Mr. Reddy said the adoption of new technologies must go hand-in-hand with sound engineering practices, quality construction and worker safety.

Mr. Reddy said MEIL was involved in infrastructure projects across healthcare, education, drinking water, sanitation, roads, public transport, power and irrigation in Telangana.

MEIL has completed the construction of the 1,000-bed Telangana Institute of Medical Sciences (TIMS) hospital at Sanath Nagar. Work on the new Osmania General Hospital building and the expansion of Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS) is under way. MEIL is also constructing Young India Integrated Schools at 25 locations in the State to strengthen educational infrastructure in rural areas.

In the drinking water and sanitation sectors, the company is associated with Mission Bhagiratha. It is also involved in the treatment and supply of Godavari water to Hyderabad. In the transport sector, MEIL is participating in the Comprehensive Road Maintenance Programme (CRMP) in Hyderabad.

The summit brought together officials from the Telangana Municipal Administration Department, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation, and the States of Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Maharashtra, besides representatives of the Asian Development Bank. Discussions focused on inclusive urban development and planning for the future needs of cities.
