The Tamil Nadu Congress Committee (TNCC) has appointed R. Senthamil Selvan as the chairperson of its Scheduled Caste (SC) department, replacing M.P. Ranjan Kumar, who had been holding the post for the last four-and-a-half years.
Mr. Ranjan Kumar said he had tendered his resignation almost four months ago. “I have been the chairperson for four-and-a-half years, 18 months more than the usual term of three years. After my resignation, I was appointed as the national co-ordinator of SC department of All India Congress Committee,” he told The Hindu.
Mr. Ranjan Kumar was in the news recently when he disclosed that he had submitted a complaint to the Greater Chennai Police against Gem Granites owner R. Veeramani and his associate Shanthi in connection with the alleged sexual abuse of minors as early as November 2024.
