As part of Special Campaign 6.0, the Palakkad Division of Southern Railway organised Rail Jan Samvaad programmes and cleanliness drives at 31 railway stations across the division. The programmes were conducted in accordance with the Railway Board’s directions to organise nationwide public interactions and cleanliness drives at railway stations and establishments.
Special Campaign 6.0 is being observed from October 2 to 31, 2026.
Railway officers and supervisors interacted with passengers, students and members of the public, listened to their suggestions and grievances, and addressed their queries at the participating stations. Madhukar Roat, Divisional Railway Manager, Palakkad, along with branch officers, participated in the Rail Jan Samvaad at Palakkad Junction Railway Station. Passengers and students of Bharathamatha Higher Secondary School, Palakkad, actively participated in the interaction. Mr. Roat listened to their queries, suggestions and travel experiences and responded to the issues raised.
Jerin G. Anand, Additional Divisional Railway Manager, Palakkad, attended the programme at Kannur Railway Station and interacted with passengers and students.
More than 3,000 people, including passengers and students from various schools and colleges, participated in the programmes held across the division. Several suggestions, queries and grievances were received during the interactions. These were documented and classified into short-, medium- and long-term action items for examination and appropriate follow-up.
Following the interactions, intensive cleanliness drives were conducted at all participating stations with the active involvement of railway staff, passengers and students. The drives aimed to raise awareness about cleanliness, encourage public participation in maintaining clean railway premises and promote good hygiene practices in everyday life.
As part of the campaign, the Palakkad Division felicitated Asian Games medallist Vithya Ramraj and Asian Games participant Anamika. Athletes and officials also participated in a tree-planting programme held at the Divisional Railway Manager’s office in Palakkad.
