The Thiruvananthapuram Division, Southern Railway conducted a programme under Special Campaign 6.0 at 102 stations across the division focusing on cleanliness, better management of railway premises and active public participation. As part of the programme, Rail Jan Samvaad was organised at stations, bringing together passengers, students, public representatives, passenger associations, rail enthusiasts and other stakeholders to share their views and suggest improvements to railway services.

At Thiruvananthapuram Central, the Rail Jan Samvaad was chaired by Divyakant Chandrakar, Divisional Railway Manager, Thiruvananthapuram Division, in the presence of senior railway officials. Similar interactions were held at stations across the division, providing an opportunity for railway officials to engage directly with the public and understand passenger expectations.

During the interactions, participants raised queries and offered suggestions on train services, passenger amenities, cleanliness, safety, security, punctuality and grievance redressal. Railway officials listened to their concerns and provided clarifications wherever possible. Issues requiring further intervention were documented and referred to the concerned departments for appropriate follow-up action, said the officials.

Special Campaign 6.0, being observed from October 2 to 31 across Indian Railways, focuses on swachhata, better utilisation of space, disposal of scrap and e-waste, and active public participation. In Thiruvananthapuram Division, the one-day programme also included cleanliness drives and tree plantation activities at stations, encouraging railway staff and the public to contribute towards cleaner and greener railway premises.
