Since June 2026, under the Jan Vishwas (Amendment of Provisions) Act, 2026, and an anti-littering drive, the Railway Protection Force (RPF), Bengaluru Division, has registered 6,671 cases and collected ₹33.50 lakh in penalties for littering, trespassing and no-parking violations on railway premises.
According to South Western Railway, the RPF registered 227 cases of littering and collected ₹1,24,200 in penalties. It also registered 3,825 trespassing cases, collecting ₹19.16 lakh in penalties.
Meanwhile, 2,619 cases of no-parking violations were registered, with ₹13.09 lakh collected in penalties.
The figures were announced as the Bengaluru Division of South Western Railway and the State Bank of India (SBI) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Thursday to facilitate digital collection of penalties through Point of Sale (PoS) terminals.
Under the new facility, violators can pay penalties through debit cards, credit cards and UPI, providing an alternative to cash payments. The system is intended to improve transparency and accountability while making penalty payments more convenient for passengers and members of the public.
The facility came into effect on Thursday. Railway officials said that the initiative is aimed at reducing cash transactions and strengthening technology-driven enforcement and public service delivery.
