On the orders of the Andhra Pradesh State Election Commission (SEC), repolling is being conducted in Tirupati Municipal Corporation (TMC) limits and in Chimakurthy Municipality on Monday (November 2, 2026).

On Sunday, the polling process for the Mayor and Corporators was disrupted at Polling Station No. 36/4 in Ward No. 36 of the TMC because of an incident of alleged booth capturing.

This created a situation where voters were unable to exercise their right to vote. Under the supervision of Tirupati Superintendent of Police (SP) L. Subbarayudu, repolling is under way in the same polling station.

Several people, including elderly persons, have come to Sri Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Municipal High School in SD Layout, Tirupati, to exercise their right to vote since 7 a.m.

In Chimakurthy Municipality, three unidentified persons allegedly captured Polling Station No. 14/4 at 4.30 p.m. on Sunday. They took ballot papers and cast them into the ballot box.

Based on the orders of the SEC, Prakasam District Collector P. Raja Babu announced repolling at the polling station. The repolling is taking place under stringent security measures.

He said, “CCTV cameras have been installed at the polling station. A dedicated videographer is recording the proceedings. Special Deputy Collector and Commissioner are overseeing the polling process.”

Except at these two polling stations, the municipal elections were conducted peacefully across the south coastal districts of Andhra Pradesh on Sunday amid tight security.

Mr. Raja Babu said, “Around 1.37 lakh persons (71.27%) of the overall 1.93 lakh voters have polled across 62 wards in Ongole Municipal Corporation limits.”

“While 25,492 persons (79.92%) among 31,895 voters voted in Addanki Municipality, 19,298 people (84.36%) of 22,876 voters polled in Chimakurthy Municipality,” he said.
