Madras High Court has instructed the Thanjavur District Collector to relocate a statue of E V Ramasamy Periyar. The statue was installed on temple land without necessary permissions from the authorities. Petitioner Rama Ravikumar sought its removal as recommended by the Joint Commissioner of the HR and CE Department. The court set a four-week deadline for the removal and suitable relocation of the statue.
