Samajwadi Party leader Azam Khan on Monday approached the Supreme Court, challenging his arrest by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in a fresh money laundering case. A bench comprising Chief Justice Surya Kant and Justices Joymalya Bagchi and V Mohana took note of submissions made by Khan's lawyer, Nizam Pasha, and said the plea could be listed during the week. However, the court declined to grant an urgent hearing. On Sunday, a special court in Ghaziabad sent Khan to 14 days of judicial custody in connection with a money laundering case linked to the Jauhar Trust. The ED arrested the SP leader on October 31, shortly after he and his son, Abdullah Azam Khan, were released from Rampur jail on bail in an alleged dual PAN card case. The agency had conducted raids in connection with the money laundering investigation in August and had also questioned Khan.
