A special enrolment drive to facilitate the inclusion of eligible voters in the electoral roll will be held across Kozhikode district from October 15 to 31. Form distribution and digital help desks will be set up at village offices during the drive to assist those who are not currently included in the electoral roll and those seeking to enrol their names for the first time.

The Election department has discontinued the additional declaration form as part of the newly introduced changes in the enrolment process. Applicants now need to submit only Form 6 online through the citizen service portal or the voter helpline app. They are also required to submit documents supporting their identity, photograph, age and address.

Identity documents that may be accepted include identity cards issued by Central or State public sector undertakings, pension payment orders, birth certificates issued by competent authorities, passports, matriculation certificates issued by recognised boards or universities, permanent residence certificates, forest rights certificates, SC/ST/OBC or other caste certificates issued by competent authorities, the National Population Register, family registers maintained by State or local authorities, and government-issued land or house allotment certificates.

Those submitting Aadhaar as proof will also have to furnish a supporting document.

A ‘Campus to Booth’ enrolment drive will be conducted in colleges and higher secondary schools to encourage the participation of young voters. A week-long enrolment drive beginning on November 2 will seek to involve students in electoral awareness activities, the District Collector, who is also the District Election Officer, said.
