Sri Sathya Sai district won the national award under the Pradhan Mantri Dhan-Dhanya Krishi Yojana (PMDDKY) for outstanding performance in farm credit and agriculture promotion. The award ceremony was held on Monday at the National Agricultural Science Complex (NASC) in New Delhi.
Union Minister for Agriculture Shivraj Singh Chouhan graced the event as chief guest and presented the award to District Collector Shyam Prasad for the district’s excellence at national level. The district excelled in disbursing bank loans to farmers on time, providing loans to 3,69,970 farmers worth ₹4,992 crore, ensuring investment support, hassle-free cultivation, and financial empowerment that led to quality crop production and economic development.
Speaking on the occasion, the Collector said that the new honour had increased the responsibility on the administration. He assured full government support to help farmers achieve higher yields and strengthen economic conditions. He expressed gratitude to every farmer working round-the-clock and adopting innovative methods to galvanise agriculture revolution in the country.
“This achievement reflects Sri Sathya Sai district’s strong commitment to farmer welfare and it will inspire other districts to improve credit flow and promote sustainable agricultural growth,” the Collector said.
