Students must take ownership of their careers, identify their strengths and aspirations, and continuously upgrade their skills to succeed in an evolving professional landscape, said Prof. Satya Duvvuri of the Paari School of Business, SRM University-AP.

Addressing students at a seminar on ‘Career Opportunities in Management & Technology’, organised by The Hindu FIC and Paari School of Business, SRM AP, he urged them to explore opportunities beyond conventional career paths and make informed choices driven by their interests and determination.

Through real-life examples, anecdotes and interactive discussions, Prof. Satya highlighted how several successful professionals from engineering and science backgrounds had utilised their technical knowledge to emerge as prominent leaders in diverse fields.

He emphasised that passion, perseverance and a willingness to learn could open doors to limitless career opportunities.

He underlined the growing importance of analytical thinking, comprehension and proficiency in emerging technologies, particularly Artificial Intelligence (AI), in preparing students for future careers. Encouraging them to dream big, work hard and pursue their passions, he said opportunities were often closer than they imagined and that their future depended largely on their own choices and efforts.

Executive Director of Kallam Haranadhareddy Institute of Technology (KHIT) Navya Kallam said that the world offered opportunities across diverse sectors and that engineering graduates could explore areas beyond their core disciplines.

She pointed out that skills such as accounting, which is considered the backbone of any business, could help students become successful entrepreneurs.

KHIT Director Uma Shankar Reddy observed that there was no age limit for acquiring new skills.

Citing the example of the institution’s founder K. Haranadhareddy, who learnt music at the age of 75 and performed at temples, he encouraged students to remain open to learning throughout their lives. He also stressed that higher educational qualifications could strengthen career prospects, noting that additional qualifications often offered an advantage in career advancement and promotions.

Principal of KHIT, Guntur district, B.S.B. Reddy said that rapid technological advancements and the convergence of different technologies were transforming the employment landscape. While certain job roles were becoming obsolete, new opportunities were emerging simultaneously. He expressed confidence that the seminar would help students gain clarity, build confidence and address uncertainties about their career choices.

Executive Director, KHIT, KHM Bharadwaj, Assistant Director, SRM-AP V.V.S. Pradeep and V. Amar from The Hindu were among those participated in the programme.
