Tamil Nadu government makes an urgent oral mentioning in the Supreme Court on Thursday (November 5, 2026), accusing Karnataka of not releasing Cauvery river water since October 23.

Appearing before a Bench headed by Chief Justice of India Surya Kant, Tamil Nadu counsel B. Karunakaran said the water has not been released despite an order from the Cauvery Water Management Authority for the release of 3,000 cusecs every day.

“Four lakh hectares of land meant for crops will totally vanish… Karnataka is not releasing. Where will we go?” Mr. Karunakaran asked.

The court agreed to list the plea early.
