Uphold integrity and constitutional values, A.P. High Court judge tells VIT-AP graduates

Justice B. Krishna Mohan of the Andhra Pradesh High Court on Saturday urged graduating students of VIT-AP University to use their knowledge with integrity, fairness and a strong sense of social responsibility as they embark on their professional and research careers.

Addressing the sixth annual convocation of VIT-AP University, Justice Krishna Mohan said students transitioning from university education to wider society should remember that “a degree provides knowledge and qualifications, but character determines how that knowledge is applied”. He stressed the importance of constitutional values, respect for the rule of law and ethical conduct.

Justice Krishna Mohan appreciated the university’s emphasis on practical and industry-oriented education through its flexible learning system, mentoring programmes, Engineering Clinics, multidisciplinary projects, internships and international collaborations. He urged the graduates to remain curious and continue learning throughout their careers.

India needed young people who were innovative, entrepreneurial and technologically capable while remaining compassionate, ethical and socially responsible, he said. He also acknowledged the role of parents, teachers and mentors in supporting students in their academic journeys.

A total of 3,877 graduands, including 86 Ph.D. scholars and 31 Gold Medalists, were conferred degrees at the convocation.

Head of the Academic Alliances Group at Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), Suceendran K.M., stressed the need to align academic learning with industry requirements. Continuous learning, adaptability and innovation would be essential for graduates as they built their careers, he said.

VIT-AP University founder and Chancellor G. Viswanathan congratulated the graduates, parents and faculty members and urged the students to carry forward the values of excellence, discipline and social responsibility. He encouraged the Ph.D. scholars to pursue original and socially relevant research in areas such as sustainability, healthcare, education, technology, environment and inclusive development.

Vice-Chancellor P. Arulmozhivarman said the graduating batch of 2026 had recorded encouraging placement outcomes, reflecting their academic preparation, industry exposure and professional skills. The batch recorded an average annual package of ₹7 lakh, while the highest package was ₹96.26 lakh per annum, he said.

The convocation was attended by university vice-president Sankar Viswanathan, AVP Kadhambari S. Viswanathan, Registrar Jagadish C. Mudiganti, Dean (Academic) N. Madhusudhan Rao, Deputy Director (Student Welfare) Khadeer Pasha, deans, faculty members, staff, research scholars, students and parents.
