Vijayawada Municipal Corporation (VMC) Commissioner Dhyanachandra H.M. held a review meeting with vote-counting personnel on Monday evening and urged them to ensure that the counting process for the second ordinary election to urban local bodies (ULBs) 2026 is conducted smoothly and transparently.
During the meeting, the Commissioner explained the duties of returning officers, the responsibilities of staff working under their supervision, arrangements for counting tables, the vote-counting procedure and the guidelines to be followed by counting personnel. He instructed every staff member to discharge their assigned duties responsibly during the counting process.
He said that a total of 450 counting tables had been arranged for vote counting within the Vijayawada Municipal Corporation limits. Necessary tables and personnel had been deployed at the counting centres covering Vijayawada East, West and Central Assembly constituencies.
The counting of votes in Vijayawada will commence at 8 a.m. on November 3 (Tuesday) at Andhra Loyola College. The ballot boxes would be brought from the strong rooms to the counting centres in the presence of representatives of political parties. The counting process would then begin in accordance with the prescribed election guidelines, he said.
