Andhra Pradesh Power Generation Corporation Limited (A.P.-Genco) MD and State Energy Conservation Mission (SECM) CEO S. Nagalakshmi on Sunday called upon the people to act responsibly in conserving electricity and water, reducing plastic consumption and managing waste effectively.
“Environment protection is not merely the responsibility of governments. Meaningful change can be achieved only when every individual adopts eco-friendly practices as part of their daily lives”, she said on the occasion of the BRICS Sustainable Lifestyle Week (BSLW) being observed from November 1-7 in line with the objectives of the Centre’s Mission LiFE – Lifestyle for Environment as part of India’s BRICS Presidency in 2026.
As part of the BSLW, a series of daily activities were being organised around the seven key themes identified under Mission LiFE. These include adopting healthy lifestyles, saving energy, conserving water, promoting sustainable food practices, reducing single-use plastic, minimising electronic waste (e-waste) and reducing general waste.
The action plan for implementing these activities has already been circulated to officials of A.P.-Genco, A.P.-Transco and the DISCOMs, she said, reiterating that environment protection was a responsibility that must be carried forward for the benefit of future generations.
