Students should strive beyond theoretical learning and acquire modern technical skills to keep pace with changing times, said Sri Sathya Sai District Collector A. Shyam Prasad.
The Collector flagged off the “Infosys Springboard Maker Lab on Wheels” initiative at Kothacheruvu Junior College on Wednesday. The innovative mobile laboratory was jointly developed by Andhra Pradesh State Skill Development Corporation (APSSDC) and Infosys Foundation to provide free practical digital education.
The Collector said “Lab on Wheels” would play a crucial role in delivering advanced STEM education and praised the initiative for bringing high-tech knowledge directly to rural and urban students.
Mr. Shyam Prasad said that the mobile lab would offer hands-on training in electronics, robotics, microcontrollers and 3D printing. “This can help students learn about electronic components, sensors, LEDs, motors, switches, and basic circuit designing, and understanding how electrical systems work in daily life,” he said.
He said that in robotics, students would get exposure to assembly, sensor integration, motor control and automation, and would build small robotic projects to enhance logical thinking.
Meanwhile, field staff on the mobile project highlighted that training in 3D printing would cover digital design to physical prototype conversion, 3D modelling and custom prototyping, bridging theory and industry-required practical skills. The vehicle would visit all government high schools and junior colleges in the district.
