To speed up restoration of the power supply network damaged by Cyclone Arnab in Andhra Pradesh, Gulbarga Electricity Supply Company (GESCOM) deputed a team of 15 officers and 100 staff members to the neighbouring State on Monday.

As directed by the D.K. Shivakumar government, the operation is being carried out under the leadership of GESCOM Chairman Praveen Patil Harawal.

Along with the officers and staff, a crane-mounted lorry, a tractor-mounted drilling machine and other essential material required for the repair and restoration of the power supply network have also been dispatched.

The team will be involved in repairing damaged electricity poles, power lines and other electrical infrastructure affected by the cyclone.

This initiative is expected to help restore electricity supply in the affected areas at the earliest.

GESCOM had extended similar assistance to Odisha in the past when a cyclone caused damage to its power infrastructure. GESCOM has consistently extended support to other States in restoring electricity infrastructure during natural disasters and emergencies, demonstrating its commitment to humanitarian assistance and inter-State cooperation, Mr. Harawal said.
